The weather keeps wandering in and out of the gorgeous zone, and The Squad is ready to leave Old Man Winter behind and start drinking in Spring's sweet nectar.  And the only way we know to help Spring out is to both rock and roll for you!

Headhunters SXSW Primer

Before the international filmmaking, blogging, and guitar-lugging crowds take over downtown, WRS plays the surreal patio of Headhunters Cannibal Stage on SXSW Eve, Thursday, March 11th.  We take the stage around 10pm, neatly sandwiched between Swing Teresa and Paul Edelman.

Nomad Infranational Music Festival

Like the old song says, it's the most batshit crazy time of the year. World Racketeering Squad celebrates the festival madness by playing a 6PM showcase at Reed's favorite local bar, The Nomad.  We'e the first band on the bill, so join The Squad for our showcase, then stick around for Blue Channel Jazz, Rich and the Obits, and Introverb.  We're especially excited to see and play with Rich and the Obits, so this is a treat!

And if you cannot resist the siren call of SXSW downtown, hit The Nomad early, then take it downtown to indulge in South by Southwest's final night of music, movies, and madness.

Start The Night with WRS

Isaac's pals The Night are playing The Carousel Lounge on Saturday night, and they've kindly asked The Squad to join them at 9:30PM.  It's been a while since we've played at our old haunt The Carousel Lounge, but I have faith that the circus decorations will still be surreal, the setups will be ready if you bring liquor, and the large pink elephant will still be my friend.

The Night have woven an impenetrable web of seclusion around themselves, so even Isaac doesn't know what to expect when they take the stage.  Will they unleash an explosion of rock obsidian to mock the demons of your darkest nightmares?  Will they gather you in their sweet pop arms and hold back the fangs till you see the sparkling of their sweet flesh? Do they have a giraffe on keyboards?

If you don't come to the show, you may never know! (And they may cast spells so we forget and can't tell you.)

Everybody Has a Hungry Heart

February may be the month for retailers to sell megatons of heart-themed merchandise, but all that just makes the boys in The Squad hungry. Hungry for more Rockin Tomato pizza, that is!

Not only will February 5th bring WRS back to our favorite pizza joint, it also heralds the first public performance ever of Isaac's other band You Might Think We're Sharks!  We've had a few hints of the pop deliciousness YMTWS is about to serve up, but this will be our first chance to take in all the goodness.  Watching Isaac play bass for a change is just the cherry on top!

Santariffic Pizza Rockstravaganza!

Taking a page from Santa's playbook, The Squad has been busy as elves preparing the premieres of five, count 'em FIVE songs WRS has never before performed live!  Whether you've seen us dozens of times or not once, this Friday night performance in a cozy pizza joint (where the pizza is seriously delicious - not kidding folks!) will be a night to remember.

And if that wasn't enough, the infectious country shenanigans of Sour Bridges start the night off at 9PM to get you in that fun, foot-stomping, booty-shakin mood.  So come early, get pizza, rock out with beer and friends, and feel the spirit of the holidays infuse you like lemon into vodka!

For All the Wednesdays We've Had Before ...

Sometimes we have to give it to you straight, without even the luxury of ice cubes or tasty tasty cola. This is our last Squad Night, so we're shooting from the hip with the triumphant return of J_Dub & The Tease and, of course, The Squad to wrap up the night and metaphorically burn the place down, thankfully of course.

So join us in the wild revelry that is our farewell to Wednesdays and all they entail.  Don't make us drink all that liquor and beer ourselves - we have instruments who depend on us!  Wednesdays at Headhunters Cannibal Stage will never be the same - we guarantee it.

Thanks for the Future!

The Squad has so much to be thankful for this year, and every year.  Bruce, Isaac, and Reed are thankful for you, our loyal fans.  Isaac is most thankful, however that when Chuck Berry asked Darla if she would marry Isaac from the stage in St. Louis, Darla joyfully accepted.  The rest of The Squad is also pleased with the engagement. Darla is the anti-Yoko, and we want to keep her around.

As of this writing, the only WRS show in December will be all-ages, free, and family friendly at The Rockin Tomato with our awsome country cousins The Sour Bridges.  The show starts at 9PM and The Squad goes on at 10PM, perfect for early birds on a Friday night!  Don't miss December's only opportunity to bomb the halls of Parliament with your favorite Rock and Roll Pop Music from the Future!

A Destiny in the Stars

Ever feel like you have a destiny and you're just waiting for the right robots to fall from the sky to lead you to the old man who'll introduce you to your secret powers?  We do, too, and we've enlisted Laura Lee Imhoff as the lovable droids and School of Liars as the wise old man to show us our destiny.  We guarantee entertainment - not sensible casting.

Giving Thanks for the Memories

But just to make sure you don't get abandonment issues, WRS will be back at Headhunters November 25 with J_Dub & The Tease to ring in the Thanksgiving season by giving thanks for all you, for rock n roll music, and of course for the many beverages (and tasty Headhunters burgers & nachos) that make it all possible.  Put the hanks back in Thanksgiving - celebrate with The Squad on Red River.

Winter of our Disco-Tent

December comes roaring in soon, and the drop in temperatures tells me we'll have to rock harder to stay hot like you like it.  That's why we're playing back to back on December 18th and 19th to get you fired up to burn through the stack of winter holidays our favorite religions have to offer.

December 18 at The Rockin Tomato with The Sour Bridges and December 19 at our old favorite haunt The Carousel Lounge opening for Conquistador Inc., a great band as Nerd Wave as we are!
